TRANSFER OF COMMAND AUTHORITY

Transfer of Command Authority

The Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) recently witnessed the transfer of Brigade Command during a formal ceremony held at Makoanyane Barracks. At this occasion, the outgoing Battalion Commanders of 12 Infantry and 13 Infantry Battalions formally handed over the Command Swords to the newly appointed commanders, signifying the lawful transfer of command authority.

The seamless transition of Brigade Command marks a defining moment in the professional journey of the Brigade and represents a significant milestone for the LDF. It underscores continuity of leadership, institutional stability, and the enduring commitment of the Force to its constitutional mandate.

The assumption of command carries immense responsibility. It entrusts the Commander with the leadership and welfare of soldiers, the maintenance of operational readiness, and the upholding of discipline, professionalism, and military ethos. This transition also provides an opportunity to acknowledge the solid foundations laid by the outgoing leadership, whose dedication and service have contributed to the Brigade’s current posture and effectiveness.

In an evolving security environment, effective command demands decisiveness, integrity, and unwavering concern for the welfare of all ranks. The success of the Brigade will depend not solely on the Commander’s vision, but equally on unity of purpose, mutual respect, and steadfast loyalty to the Constitution and the Kingdom of Lesotho.

As the Brigade embarks on this new chapter, full confidence is placed in the command teams and the soldiers under their leadership. Through collective commitment, discipline, and professionalism, the Brigade will continue to serve the nation with honour, discipline, and distinction.
